Welcome to Book Weekend

ACOTAR 7

ย

Friday, January 15 - Monday, January 18, 2027

You deserve better than finishing a book and having no one to yell about it with

Meanwhile you are:

๐Ÿคฏ thinking about it in the shower
๐Ÿคฏ replaying scenes while driving
๐Ÿคฏ mentally rewriting dialogue
๐Ÿคฏ developing extremely strong opinions about fictional people

ย

If A Court of Thorns and Roses has ever done emotional damage to you

๐Ÿ’œ If Rhysand is your book husband

๐Ÿ’™ If your partner is even slightly jealous of how you feel about Cassian or Mor

๐Ÿงก If you have opinions about Nesta that you will defend like itโ€™s your full-time job

ย

Reading a good book in a house full of people who are also spiraling, who also have theories, who also need to TALK about it right nowโ€ฆ

ย

That is a completely different experience.

ย

You should not have to process fictional chaos alone.

Soโ€ฆ what actually happens at Book Weekend?

Basically, we rent a large house in upstate New York for the weekend and we all read the same book and talk about it.ย

ย

The book: ACOTAR 7

Where: upstate New York (tbd).ย

The house

We look for a house that is as big as we can find, but still a good price.ย

  • It will be in upstate New York within 30 minutes of the Hudson River.

  • We look for large tables and lots of seating, so reading time is comfy.

  • Some people will have to share rooms and/or large (king size) beds.

I will add the link to the airbnb house here when we have it.

The Food

Jess and Megan will put in a giant order at BJs for pickup and we will share all food for the weekend. This includes all breakfasts, lunches, snacks, dinners, and alcohol.

ย

And don't worry - we're happy to accommodate for food allergies and preferences. :)

ย

I will include the link to the grocery list here.

ย

The Menu:

  • Friday evening: charcuterie board

  • Saturday & Sunday lunches: cold cut sandwiches, snacks

  • Saturday, Sunday, and Monday breakfasts: eggs, bacon, sausage, bagels, cream cheese

  • Saturday dinner: tacos

  • Sunday dinner: eat out at a nearby brewery and discuss the book!

  • tons of snacks all day every day

The Vibe

Here's what you should wear...

  • We're going for comfort. Bring your pjs, loungewear, and onesies!

  • Bring normal clothes for Sunday's dinner at a brewery.

  • Leave your ballgowns, steamers, and makeup at home.

How much does this cost?

We take the price of the house and divide it by the number of people coming, then we add $50 for food and alcohol.ย

ย

The price tag includes the house for the weekend, and all food and alcohol. It does NOT include Sunday's dinner at a brewery.

ย

We expect the total cost to be about $350-400 per person for the whole weekend. All inclusive.

How do I pay?

You can venmo or zelle Megan once we have a price.

ย

Payment will be due in full to Megan by 10/15/26.

Coming soon...

Merch!

Or so Megan says. So we'll see if it happens...

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Book / reading questions

What if I don't finish the book by Sunday evening?

The ending WILL be spoiled for you. We will talk about the book openly Sunday evening.

ย

If you're worried about not finishing, listening to the audio while also reading the physical or ebook will speed you up and improve retention.

ACOTAR 7 comes out Tuesday, January 12. Should I start reading it then?

Yeah, bitch. Whatever you need to do to finish it on Sunday 1/17.

I'm a slow reader. Is that okay?

You'll be in good company.

ย

Pro tip: dual coding (listening to the book while also reading the ebook or physical book with your eyes) will make you read faster and improve retention.ย

I only read with my eyes / ears / both.

Cool, same. There will be audio readers, ebook readers, physical book readers, and people who do a mixture.

Payment questions

Why is the full payment due 10/15/26?

Megan puts the full cost of the house on her credit card and it's only fair for her to be reimbursed immediately.

Food questions

What if I'm a picky eater / vegan / allergic to foods?

Not a problem! Just let us know and we'll be happy to adjust the grocery list.ย

So I don't need to bring any food or drinks this year?

Nope! We'll bring it all.

Transportation questions

I'm not driving. How do I get to the house?

Just let us know and we can coordinate picking you up from the train station.

I can't get there until Saturday / I have to leave Sunday. Is that ok?

Of course! No problem at all. Let us know when we can expect you.

ย

The price will remain the same since we still have to have the same size house.

Miscellaneous questions

This is my first Book Weekend.

We're so happy to have you, new friend! No one knows everyone, so everyone makes new book friends! :)

Can I bring my child / human / furry?

Sorry, but no. Your baby, your cat, your boyfriend, and your lizard all have to say at home.

Will I have to share a room/bed?

Sharing is caring! Some people will have to share rooms or large beds. Only people that are willing to share will share.

Hi, we're Megan, Ilana, and Jess!

We came up with the idea for Book Weekend in 2024 when Crescent City 3 came out and we wanted to get together, read, and talk about it. We invited some friends and Book Weekend was born!

ย

We have done Book Weekend every winter since January 2024. We always pick a good romantasy book that everyone will like and want to talk about.

Previous Book Weekends:

January 2024 - Crescent City 3 by Sarah J Maas

January 2025 - Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros

January 2026 - Brimstone by Callie Hart
